Attorney Hyland practices in the area of civil litigation and has defended the interests of insurers, their insureds and self-insured entities in a variety of cases including motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, products liability, wrongful death and lead paint liability claims.  In addition, he practices in workers’ compensation and has represented employers and claimants in all proceedings from informal hearings, formal hearings and appeals before the Compensation Review Board. Attorney Hyland also practices in the area of estate administration.

After graduating from Boston College in 1984, Attorney Hyland worked in the claims department of a major insurance company while attending law school.  He obtained his Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School in 1990 where he was the recipient of the American Jurisprudence Award for Estate Administration.  He is admitted to practice law at the Connecticut Bar (1990), the New York Bar (1991), U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York (1992), U.S. District Court, Eastern District of New York (1992), U.S. District Court, District of Connecticut (1993) and the U.S. Supreme Court (2015).

Attorney Hyland is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association (Member, Workers’ Compensation Section), the New Haven County Bar Association, the Greater Bridgeport Area Bar Association, the Connecticut Defense Lawyer’s Association and the Defense Research Institute.
