Summary: The initial question in almost all cases is: Does the other party have insurance? However, while the other party having insurance is ideal, in a certain number of our cases we may rely on insurance held by our client or their family member.

Additional Insurance

The initial question in almost all cases is: Does the other party have insurance? However, while the other party having insurance is ideal, in a certain number of our cases we may rely on insurance held by our client or their family member.

I hear from clients that they are worried their insurance rates will go up if they file a claim with their own insurance company. The truth is that the insurance company already knows you were in a wreck and has already raised your rate as a result. (We will talk about getting a better insurance rate in a later email.) Despit this, the amount they raised your rate is much much less than the amount we may be able to recover in your claim.

Health Insurance

If you have health insurance, you may be able to save out of pocket expenses for your care. Please send us information about your private health plan (insurance card) or your medicaid or medicare benefits. We are required to communicate with these providers prior to settlement.

Finding Additional Insurance (auto):

Every policy of insurance you own should include paperwork called a declarations page. This is the bill and invoice for the amount of coverage you bought. If you have not already, it may be best to look through your records for the declarations page for the period when your injury occurred and send us this document in an email. If you do not have your declarations page or insurance policy, request it from your adjuster and fax it to us at 866-374-1815.

Medical Payments

This is coverage you would carry that may immediately pay for some of your medical bills.

Uninsured / Underinsured Motorist

This coverage would kick in if the other driver has no insurance or does not have insurance at all. Often you have more of this coverage than you expect and your claim can grow as a result.

Finding Additional Insurance (other)

Was the person responsible for your injury on the job? Let us know. Were they in work clothes? Was there an indication that a large corporation may be involved? Let us know.

This information in the right hands can be valuable. If you have additional information, send us an email.
