Summary: An experienced personal injury attorney can help you get settlements for your car accident injuries. Don’t let an unfortunate event take all you have.

At a time when the world is experiencing a technical and mechanical revolution, millions of motor vehicles traverse the roads every day, transporting people and freight. Cars are one of the most popular means of personal transportation, and owning a motor vehicle can save us from arriving late to work or having to rely on potentially unreliable public transportation. With a personal vehicle available at any time, we do not have to panic when an emergency comes our way and we need to travel.

With cars’ benefits also comes backlash. While driving or riding as a passenger in a car is relatively safe, automobile accidents occur every day, creating the need for auto accident lawyers to protect victims’ interests. Statistics show that more than 36,000 people died as a result of car accidents in 2019 in the U.S. So, how do these accidents happen?

●       Head-on accidents: Head-on accidents are potentially the most dangerous type of car accident. The fatality rate from these types of accidents is higher than any other type of car accident. A head-on accident can occur as a result of inattentive driving, vehicle malfunction, or impaired driving. This kind of accident may involve two cars that collide head to head, or one car and one solid object, such as a building, lamppost, or stationary vehicle. Head-on accidents often result in severe injuries to passengers and drivers. Escaping with no injury from a head-on accident is unlikely.

●       Rear-end accidents: Rear-end accidents occur when the front of one vehicle collides into the rear of another vehicle. This type of accident is usually caused by inattentive driving. For example, if the car in front stops suddenly and the vehicle behind has not left enough distance between vehicles to stop in time, or fails to stop because of inattention, a collision may occur. Rear-end accidents can cause injury, but usually they are not as severe as in a head-on collision. It is unlikely for a car to be severely damaged in a rear-end accident.

●       Vehicle rollover accidents: Rollover accidents most often involve vehicles that are taller than they are wide, such as SUVs, but smaller cars can be involved in vehicle rollovers as well. Exceeding speed limits, maneuvering a vehicle quickly, wet or icy roadways, or inclement weather can increase the likelihood that a vehicle rollover will occur. Vehicle rollover accidents often result in extensive damage and severe injuries for vehicle occupants. Other vehicles’ passengers or pedestrians may be injured in this type of accident. A car accident lawyer can help accident victims navigate the burdensome and potentially painful impact that this type of accident may cause.

●       Multiple vehicle accidents: While the accidents listed above create stressful situations and legal hassle, each one can involve multiple vehicles, making a bad situation even worse. Multiple vehicle accidents, because more people and vehicles are involved, have the potential to cause many injuries or fatalities. These types of accidents are most common in highly congested areas of traffic. The more vehicles involved in the accident, the more complicated the legal repercussions and losses. Some of these accidents involve concurrent head-on collisions, rollovers, sideswipes, or rear-end crashes in a chain reaction. Often, one small event can set off a damaging series of actions. For example, it can be caused by a malfunctioning traffic light or another road hazard. More than one party may be at fault for a multiple vehicle collision.

There are also several other kinds of car accidents, such as sideswipe accidents, side-impact accidents, and single-car accidents. The scariest thing about motor vehicle accidents is that you never know when they will occur. These unexpected car accidents often cause severe injury, draining you of resources as you pay for the necessary medical expenses that result. If there is a specific party responsible, a reputable lawyer can help you file a claim for compensation. They will also help you seek recovery from the insurance policies involved, both yours and the other party’s.
